SC upholds Marie Grace R. David's candidacy for vice mayor of Limay, Bataan

The Supreme Court (SC) has reversed the Commission on Elections (Comelec)'s decision to disqualify Marie Grace R. David as a substitute candidate for vice mayor of Limay, Bataan in the 2025 elections.

On January 14, the SC issued a temporary restraining order halting Comelec from enforcing its previous ruling against Marie Grace.

During a full court session on March 4, the SC granted Marie Grace's petition, finding that she had complied with all requirements under Section 77 of the Omnibus Election Code and permanently prohibiting the Comelec en banc from implementing its January 6 resolution and related decisions regarding her disqualification.

Richie Jason D. David withdrew his candidacy for vice mayor on December 6, 2024, prompting Marie Grace to file her certificate of candidacy (COC) and the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas' certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA).

Comelec initially denied Marie Grace's substitution due to a perceived deadline violation under Comelec Resolution No. 11045.

Marie Grace then filed a petition before the SC, which ultimately ruled in her favor, ensuring her inclusion on the ballot as the substitute candidate for vice mayor.
