SC charges ex-CA justice Dicdican over Wee murder

The Supreme Court has charged retired Court of Appeals Associate Justice Isaias Dicdican with gross misconduct for his alleged involvement in the 2020 murder of Atty. Joey Luis Wee in Cebu City.

High Court spokesperson Camille Ting announced that the SC acted on a memorandum from Court Administrator Raul Villanueva dated March 25, 2025, to file formal charges against Dicdican and directed him to file an answer within a non-extendible period of 10 days from receipt of notice.

Wee was shot and killed at the ground floor of his law office building in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City, on November 23, 2020.

In December 2020, Fausto Edgar Benigno Peralta, a former Philippine Army sergeant, was arrested as a suspect in the killing.

The NBI's investigation also identified retired Col. Edwin Layese as the alleged 'contractor' who pointed to Dicdican in his extra-judicial confession.

If found guilty, Dicdican faces disbarment and loss of pension benefits as potential penalties.
