Savouge secures spot in bronze medal series despite early deficit

Savouge secured their place in the bronze medal series of the 2025 Spikers' Turf Open Conference with a four-set victory over VNS-Laticrete on Wednesday at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Despite an early deficit and the loss of key player Sherwin Caritativo due to injury, Savouge rallied back thanks to Mark Calado's game-high 30 points and Giles Torres' 21 points.

Savouge head coach Sydney Calderon emphasized controlling errors as a key factor in their comeback victory after struggling with nine or ten errors in the first set.

Mark Calado credited his teammates for staying composed and fighting through adversity, especially during the nail-biting fourth set where Hero Austria's crucial contributions helped secure match point.

Savouge will now focus on regrouping ahead of their bronze medal match against the Griffins scheduled for Friday.
