Sarno banned two years for anti-doping violations

Olympic weightlifter Vanessa Sarno will be absent from competitions for at least two years due to a period of ineligibility related to anti-doping rule violations and pregnancy.

Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas president Monico Puentevella confirmed that Sarno's sanction began on August 4, 2025, and will end on August 3, 2027.

The International Testing Agency (ITA) reported that Sarno committed three whereabouts failures within a year and did not contest the proposed punishment.

Puentevella noted that Sarno has been out of the national team for several months due to failure to report.

Another Olympian, John Ceniza, was also removed from the national team for an unspecified reason.
