Sara Duterte denies calling for Marcos Jr.'s resignation

Vice President Sara Duterte denied calling for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s resignation during a gathering in The Hague and clarified that the call came from supporters.

At the event, when supporters chanted 'Marcos resign!', Vice President Duterte responded by questioning why they should demand his resignation without providing reasons.

She also expressed concerns about her father's safety based on historical precedents, referencing the assassination of Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and the rendition of former president Rodrigo Duterte to The Hague.

Malacañang questioned who would benefit from the President's potential resignation, while Sara Duterte defended her father's intention to return home despite his arrest by the International Criminal Court earlier this month.

The ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I has ordered both prosecution and defense teams to disclose evidence ahead of a confirmation of charges hearing scheduled for September 23.
