VP Sara Duterte surprises House to support father

Vice President Sara Duterte made another surprise appearance at the House of Representatives late Wednesday afternoon, November 13, nearly two months after her previous visit.

Sara entered the quad committee hearing venue to support her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who was being grilled by lawmakers regarding his war on drugs and extrajudicial killings.

During a press conference earlier this month, Sara expressed skepticism about receiving a fair hearing during the House probe into her father's drug war policies due to previous experiences of political persecution.

She recalled last year's budget approval for the Office of the Vice President (OVP) being challenged in the House despite being approved by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and noted ongoing attacks on confidential funds and budget slashes.

Sara has been absent from several hearings, including those probing alleged misuse of confidential funds at her office and during her tenure as education chief.
