Sara Duterte urges brother Pulong to run for House speaker

Vice President Sara Duterte disclosed during an interview on Saturday, May 17, that she had encouraged her brother, Davao City Representative Paolo 'Pulong' Duterte, to run for House speaker.

When approached by Duterte, Pulong did not immediately respond and is reportedly considering his chances of winning the position.

Duterte also suggested that if her brother does not win the speakership, he should aim for the minority bloc leadership instead.

Deputy House Speaker David 'Jay-Jay' Suarez announced on Saturday that incumbent House Speaker Martin Romualdez continues to enjoy a supermajority with over 240 members signing a manifesto of support.

Suarez emphasized that this is not just about party politics but unity, output, and trust in the Speaker's leadership.

Speaker Martin Romualdez's allies are confident he will remain in office for the next three years due to the strong backing from various political blocs.
