Sara Duterte testifies before House committee on funds probe

Vice President Sara Duterte took an oath during the seventh hearing of the House committee on good government's probe into alleged misuse of funds from her office and the Department of Education.

Duterte, who previously only appeared once without taking an oath in a September 18 hearing, attended Monday's session to support OVP personnel cited for contempt last November 11.

Four OVP officials—Lemuel Ortonio, Gina Acosta, Edward Fajarda, and Sunshine Fajarda—were present at the hearing to provide crucial information about acknowledgment receipts (ARs) related to confidential fund expenditures.

During the hearing, Duterte questioned the committee's procedures when a lawmaker asked Fajarda about a liquidation report without showing it first, leading to a heated exchange with Deputy Minority Leader France Castro and House Committee Chair Joel Chua.

Duterte also asked the panel to reconsider its decision to extend Lopez's detention, describing it as 'illegal', but was advised by Chua to raise her concerns in court instead.
