Davao mayor suspends city flights, DILG chief says LGUs unauthorized

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte suspended all domestic and international air travel to and from Davao City starting Thursday under Executive Order No. 13.

However, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Friday that local government units do not have the authority to cancel flights as this falls under another department's jurisdiction.

Año warned of stranded travelers if LGU officials unilaterally declare flight cancellations without coordination.
