Sandiganbayan proposes public info division with spox

Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Geraldine Econg is proposing to establish a public information division with a spokesperson to make its decisions and resolutions more accessible and understandable to the public.

Econom emphasized that court cases often involve complex legal technicalities, leading to potential misunderstandings among those who lose their cases.

The proposed division would create summaries of decisions and resolutions to facilitate better understanding among the masses, stripping away legal jargon to reach out to people in simpler terms.

She highlighted the need for a spokesperson to explain court decisions more clearly, helping to clarify outcomes for the public.

Econom said they are working closely with relevant offices of the Supreme Court and Chief Justice's office to implement this initiative and are discussing staffing needs.

Additionally, she addressed concerns regarding access to the Sandiganbayan's library for unpublished documents, promising improvements once the division is formed.

Repair works for the Sandiganbayan building were also requested to the Supreme Court.
