Sandiganbayan acquits Jejomar and Junjun Binay in graft case

The Sandiganbayan has acquitted former vice president Jejomar Binay, his son and former Makati mayor Junjun Binay Jr., and others of graft charges related to the P2.2-billion Makati City Parking Building project.

During court proceedings, Junjun Binay stated that he merely approved payments in 2011 and 2013 and emphasized that other individuals handled the bidding and post-bidding activities.

The acquittal marks a significant legal victory for both Binays as no civil liability was imposed on them or their co-accused due to lack of evidence proving their guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

As a result, the Hold Departure Order against the Binays and their co-accused has been lifted.
