San Juan inaugurates new mabuhay lane to ease Greenhills traffic

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) inaugurated a new mabuhay lane on Monday connecting West Crame and Greenhills.

The 542-square-meter connector road, which cost P38 million to expropriate two privately-owned lots, will provide an alternative route for motorists heading from West Crame to Quezon City area, Benitez, and EDSA and vice versa.

Mayor Zamora emphasized that this project has been a long-standing goal since he became mayor in 2019 to alleviate traffic congestion in the Greenhills area.

MMDA Chair Romando Artes stated that strict enforcement of parking regulations will be implemented on this new route, with penalties ranging from P1,000 for attended vehicles and P2,000 for unattended ones, and towing after five minutes.

The MMDA plans to deploy additional traffic constables to bus terminals and other convergence areas to manage the expected increase in vehicle volume before Christmas.
