San Juan declared first drug-cleared city in Metro Manila

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora announced on Friday, May 2, that the city has been officially declared as the first drug cleared city in Metro Manila by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing.

The declaration follows a successful evaluation and deliberation conducted at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall, attended by representatives from PDEA, DILG, PNP, and DOH.

San Juan achieved 100 percent drug-cleared status across all its barangays in 2023, which is a prerequisite for the city-wide declaration. The mayor noted that this recognition is based on stricter criteria compared to barangay-level clearance.

Mayor Zamora highlighted San Juan's distinction of having the lowest crime volume in Metro Manila and pledged to sustain this achievement through continued enforcement, rehabilitation, and prevention programs.

The official Drug Cleared City Certificate and Barangay Seal of Excellence will be issued after the lifting of the Comelec election moratorium, but the declaration is already in effect.
