NWPC approves P40 daily minimum wage hike for CAR, PHP1,100 monthly increase for kasambahays

On Thursday, December 5, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) approved new wage orders for the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), increasing daily minimum wages by P40.

The RTWPB in CAR also granted a PHP1,100 monthly increase for domestic workers (kasambahays), raising their monthly minimum wage from P4,900 to P6,000.

These wage orders will take effect on December 23 in CAR and directly benefit around 74,961 minimum wage earners and approximately 40,116 domestic workers.

The RTWPB's decision came after public consultations in different provinces of the region that started in May 2024.

Both regions complied with criteria for determining wage increases under Republic Act Nos. 6727 and 10361, considering the needs of workers and their families, capacity of employers/industry to pay, and economic and social development in the region.
