Harry Roque joins Duterte's ICC legal team

Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed he will join Rodrigo Duterte's legal team as the former president faces trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Roque, who appeared in public for the first time in months on Friday morning, March 14, Netherlands time, said that all necessary documents have been submitted to officially join Duterte's counsel.

Vice President Sara Duterte, a lawyer herself, plans to attend the hearing and is working with Roque to arrange a meeting between Duterte and his daughter before her appearance at the ICC.

Roque also revealed they are attempting to postpone the first hearing due to unspecified reasons but expects their request will likely be granted given Duterte's current detention in The Hague.

Salvador Medialdea remains the only officially recognized member of Duterte's legal team, though Roque is optimistic about joining soon.
