Romualdez pledges Coast Guard support for WPS defense

He highlighted the role of the Coast Guard as the country's first line of defense against foreign aggression and illegal incursions, praising their bravery and commitment.

Romualdez pledged continued support to the Coast Guard through legislative actions and personal leadership, vowing to push for stronger maritime defense policies.

The speaker also assured greater advocacy for uniformed personnel and the assertion of Philippine sovereignty in disputed waters, recognizing the ongoing challenges posed by Chinese vessels monitoring civilian boats.

Parts of the South China Sea that fall within Philippine territory have been renamed as West Philippine Sea to reinforce legal claims.

In these times of great uncertainty, Romualdez called on every Filipino to take responsibility for defending their country's maritime sovereignty.
