Leni Robredo confirms run for Naga City mayor, rules out Senate bid

Former Vice President Leni Robredo confirmed on Friday, June 21, that she will run for mayor of Naga City in the 2025 midterm elections and ruled out running for senator.

During a media interview after the episcopal ordination of Bishop Luisito Occiano at the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia in Naga City, Robredo stated that she has closed the door on her Senate candidacy.

She emphasized that while LP President Edcel Lagman had previously mentioned her potential candidacy for Education secretary, this was a hypothetical scenario.

Robredo's decision to run for Naga City mayor is well thought out and involves considering where she can be most effective and utilize available resources.

The former vice president informed the Liberal Party about her plan to run for Naga mayor as well as some members of the political opposition, with discussions also involving Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion.
