Rep Valeriano files HR to review bridge safety

A House lawmaker has filed a resolution calling for a comprehensive review into the structural integrity of all bridges and flyovers across the Philippines following recent collapses.

Rep. Rolando Valeriano (Manila, 2nd District) urged various government agencies to conduct inspections and audits of infrastructure projects to assess their safety and accountability.

The resolution covers eight public infrastructure projects including the Ungka Flyover in Iloilo City and several bridges that collapsed or faced structural integrity issues due to typhoons and earthquakes.

Valeriano emphasized that these incidents are hazardous and a waste of government funds, stressing the need for preventive maintenance measures.

House Resolution No. 2257 tasks the DPWH with completing an audit within three months and submitting findings and recommendations to address recurring failures in public infrastructure projects.
