Rep Leviste launches P1,000 student allowance pilot in Batangas

Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste has launched a pilot program providing P1,000 allowances to over 150,000 students from kindergarten to senior high school in Batangas' first district.

The funds for this initiative come from Leviste's personal resources through the Lingkod Legarda Leviste Foundation and are being distributed across several municipalities before the end of July.

Leviste aims to provide a monthly P1,000 allowance to help cover transportation costs and other basic needs, as students often travel long distances to attend school.

He emphasized that while the amount may not fully cover expenses, it would alleviate financial burdens for families and encourage regular attendance.

House Bill No. 27 seeks to extend this assistance nationwide, proposing a P1,000 cash grant for all Filipino students from kindergarten to college, contingent on their class attendance.
