Rep Dionisio warns voters against POGO-linked candidates

Manila 1st district Representative Ernix Dionisio is cautioning voters against electing candidates linked to Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs), which are now banned nationwide.

Dionisio warned during a press conference on Monday, February 24, that political aspirants associated with POGOs may be seeking government positions to protect their illegal activities, including online fraud, money laundering, and human trafficking.

He praised President Marcos for banning POGOs but emphasized the importance of public support in choosing leaders who will ensure these entities do not return, noting the role of the House quad-committee's investigation into POGOs and related criminal activities.

The committee's probe revealed that some individuals have exploited legal loopholes to acquire fraudulent birth certificates and run businesses like POGOs, with former President Rodrigo Duterte's adviser Michael Yang being one of those investigated for connections to illegal drug trade through his brothers.

Authorities have intensified their crackdown since the ban, resulting in raids on several hubs across the country.
