Remulla challenges Roque to return from Dutch asylum

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla challenged lawyer Harry Roque to return from his asylum in the Netherlands and face legal issues against him, with Malacanang also urging him to do so.

Remulla criticized Roque's involvement in the International Criminal Court (ICC) case against former President Rodrigo Duterte, calling him a non-entity and irrelevant.

Roque left the country in September after being cited for contempt and recently announced he was seeking asylum in the Netherlands.

Vice President Sara Duterte announced that Roque would no longer be part of her father's defense team at the ICC due to potential complications with his asylum application.

Remulla emphasized that as a Filipino lawyer, Roque should face legal issues domestically rather than seek asylum abroad.

Roque faces allegations over trafficking operations at Lucky South 99 POGO firm in Porac, Pampanga, and has filed a counter affidavit denying these claims.
