NEDA projects 6-7% growth this year

NEDA projects a 6 to 7 percent growth for the Philippine economy this year despite lockdowns.

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Chua attributes this projection to gradual lifting of quarantine restrictions and continuous vaccination rollout.

Chua noted that unlike last year, only 25% mobility reduction is observed compared to normal periods, indicating a better economic recovery.

The government aims for a 7-9 percent growth in 2022 with recalibrated risk management strategy.

Vaccination efforts have begun for the A4 group of workers since June 7th, and close to seven million doses have been administered to priority groups.
