Rappler Movers cover midterm elections, highlight marginalized voices

Rappler-trained civic engagement volunteers called Movers provided extensive coverage of the 2025 Philippine midterm elections, capturing critical moments and community sentiments across various localities.

Movers, who were trained during Rappler's #AmbagNatin roadshow in 2024, monitored local races, reported on candidate platforms, and highlighted issues such as traffic and disaster preparedness.

On election day, May 12, Movers shared real-time updates from their respective areas, covering challenges like weather disruptions, vote buying, and technical issues with automated counting machines.

Movers also documented hopeful stories, such as the Badjao community in Batangas casting ballots for the first time, emphasizing the importance of giving voice to marginalized groups.

Following election day, Movers continued their coverage by tracking results and noting significant trends like women taking top elected positions in Iloilo City, marking a historic moment.
