Quiapo Church procession draws thousands, 1,152 seek medical help

Devotees gathered at Quiapo Church on Good Friday for a procession of the image of Jesus Nazareno, which began around midnight and concluded without major incidents but saw 1,152 devotees seeking medical assistance.

Manila Police District spokesperson Police Major Phillip Ines stated that no untoward events were reported during the event.

Around 12,000 police personnel and force multipliers from various agencies were deployed to ensure security throughout the day's activities.

Quiapo Church also organized other religious observances such as Siete Palabras at noon, Veneration of the Cross at 3 a.m., and Santo Entierro with the image of Mater Dolorosa and San Juan Apostol at 5 p.m.

Despite the large turnout, littering was observed around Quezon Boulevard.
