Querubin weakens into LPA, may redevelop; scattered rains in Visayas, Mindanao

Tropical Depression Querubin weakened into a low-pressure area (LPA) off Mindanao on Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm but has a medium chance of redeveloping into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said.

As of Thursday morning, the LPA was located 245 kilometers east-southeast of Surigao del Norte and will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over eastern Visayas and Caraga region in Mindanao.

The trough from the LPA is expected to cause scattered rains across eastern portions of Visayas and Mindanao, while a shearline will result in scattered rains and thunderstorms in Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, and Oriental Mindoro.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon (amihan), accompanied by cool weather and light to moderate rains in Northern and Central Luzon.

Strong to gale winds and rough seas will prevail in extreme northern Luzon, while coastal areas of Batanes, the northern coast of Cagayan, the Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte are under a gale warning.
