'Pulang Araw' selected for Lunar Codex moon mission

The Kapuso series 'Pulang Araw,' starring Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, Alden Richards, was announced as the first Filipino TV show to be included in Lunar Codex's time capsule bound for the moon during GMA Network's 24 Oras broadcast on Wednesday, November 27.

Alden Richards expressed gratitude on behalf of the project team for being chosen as part of the Lunar Codex project, which aims to preserve contemporary works from 185 countries and territories.

'Pulang Araw' will be part of the Polaris collection set to launch to the Nobile Crater in the moon's South Pole region by NASA’s Artemis capsule in 2025.

SB19's music, along with other Filipino artists such as Ryan Cayabyab and Gary Valenciano, are also included in the Lunar Codex project.

Dr. Samuel Peralta founded Lunar Codex to preserve works from Earth that will not be affected by war or climate change on the moon.

Through semiconductor technology called NanoFiche, images were compressed onto small discs about the size of an American quarter for the lunar journey.
