PSEi climbs above 6,000 amid high trading volume

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) climbed past the 6,000 level on Monday as investors sought bargains following last week's decline.

By the end of trading, the PSEi gained 0.65 percent to close at 6,037.19 points, while the All Shares Index increased by 0.89 percent.

Trading volume was high, with value turnover reaching P6.19 billion and net foreign purchases amounting to P293.79 million.

Positive corporate earnings reports boosted investor confidence, particularly in conglomerates such as SM Investments Corp., which gained 5.62 percent.

Despite the overall market gain, more stocks closed lower than higher, with 120 losers compared to 75 gainers and 55 unchanged.
