PSEi flat at 6,615.16, peso weakens against US dollar

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closed flat on Monday, ending at 6,615.16 points, down by 0.02 percent.

Tech stocks and other sectors recorded slight losses as investors took a cautious stance ahead of upcoming policy meetings from the Federal Reserve and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Among indices, only Financials and Holding Firms showed gains at 0.87 and 0.28 percent respectively, while Mining and Oil led the decliners with a loss of 1.01 percent.

The peso also weakened against the US dollar, closing at 58.67 from last week's rate of 58.47, despite opening stronger at 58.60.

Trade volume decreased to USD1.48 billion on Monday compared to USD1.57 billion in the previous trading day.
