PSC commits to supporting Filipino boxers for 2028 Olympics

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chair Richard Bachmann reaffirmed his organization's commitment to supporting Filipino boxers following the confirmation that boxing will remain part of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Bachmann highlighted the sport’s historical significance for the Philippines, noting that ten out of eighteen Olympic medals won by the country have been from boxing, including recent bronze medals from Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas in Paris last year.

The inclusion of boxing is expected to enhance the nation's medal prospects given its consistent performance in recent editions like Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024.

Bachmann emphasized the sport’s popularity in the Philippines and expressed optimism about Filipino boxers' potential for success at the upcoming Olympics, stating that the PSC stands fully committed to providing financial support.
