PSC doubles Marcos Jr.'s security after Duterte's assassination threat

On Monday, the Presidential Security Command (PSC) announced that it has doubled the security for President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. following Vice President Sara Duterte's statement about contracting an assassin to kill him and other officials.

Major Nestor Endozo, PSC civil military operations officer, confirmed to Palace reporters in a phone interview that immediate instructions were given to heighten security starting Saturday, with no restrictions on public engagements issued yet.

Endozo clarified that the number of personnel will be revised but coordination remains tight for upcoming activities; however, there are currently no specific instructions regarding bulletproof vests or podiums.

The PSC emphasized treating any threat to the President's life as a serious matter of national security and said they would take all necessary measures to ensure his safety.

Vice President Sara Duterte maintained that her remarks were taken out of context during an online media conference where OVP chief of staff Zuleika Lopez was cited for contempt and detained by lawmakers.
