PSC completes weightlifting facility renovations with MVPSF donation

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Training Center in Baguio City has completed renovations to its weightlifting facility and equipped it with new high-performance gym equipment, thanks to a P2.2 million donation from the Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation.

In addition to the equipment, MVPSF also funded the renovation of the training hub for national teams, emphasizing the importance of providing athletes with state-of-the-art facilities.

PSC chairman Patrick Gregorio highlighted the significance of these upgrades and expressed hope for more private support in the future, while approving a P5,000 increase in monthly stipends for national athletes and coaches starting next month.

National athletes like Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Aira Villegas and Filipina muay thai world champion Islay Erika Bomogao expressed gratitude and commitment to using the new facilities to improve training for the benefit of the country.

The blessing ceremony for the newly upgraded facility was attended by PSC officials, including commissioners Edward Hayco, Fritz Gaston, and Walter Torres.
