PRO-3 seizes over 600 firearms to ensure pre-election safety

Over 600 loose firearms have been seized in Central Luzon from January 12 to March 3, 2025, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3.

The recovery includes 603 firearms—599 short firearms and four light weapons—as part of efforts to prevent violence and enhance public safety ahead of the May 12 midterm elections.

Nueva Ecija province recorded the highest number of surrendered firearms with 230, highlighting the success of the campaign in that area.

PRO-3 Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo emphasized the importance of securing deadly weapons to protect the democratic process and ensure public safety.

Fajardo urged communities to report illegal firearms to authorities as part of the Philippine National Police's (PNP) broader strategy to curb election-related violence.

Police also arrested two suspected drug pushers in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on March 5, seizing 500 grams of shabu valued at P3.4 million during a buy-bust operation.
