PRO-10 cracks down on election gun ban, arrests 29, confiscates 28 firearms

The Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) arrested 29 individuals, including three uniformed personnel and one security guard, for violating the election gun ban from January 12 to February 12.

During this period, police confiscated 28 firearms and seized over 230 rounds of ammunition through more than 13,400 checkpoints and other enforcement activities.

PRO-10 Director Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman emphasized the importance of strict enforcement in preventing election-related violence and ensuring public safety.

The intensified gun ban implementation included checkpoint operations, police response and patrol operations, as well as separate police operations that led to 21 arrests and the confiscation of firearms.

PRO-10 worked closely with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to enforce the ban through various measures and urged the public to adhere to regulations and report suspicious activities.
