PPA allocates PHP410M to upgrade Amandayehan Port

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has allocated PHP410 million to upgrade Amandayehan port in Basey, Samar, to address the transport crisis caused by load restrictions on the San Juanico Bridge.

As part of the initiative, PPA plans to install 14 navigational buoys worth PHP110 million and allocate PHP100 million for dredging works, as well as PHP200 million for physical expansion.

The upgrades aim to provide an alternative route between Samar and Leyte with extended operating hours, reducing travel time to 15-20 minutes.

PPA is also finalizing the turnover of Amandayehan Port from local government units before year-end to better equip it for larger operations.

These improvements form part of a broader strategy to establish reliable transport systems in Eastern Visayas through continuous port modernization.
