Power bank sparks scare at NAIA Terminal 1

A smoke incident at Baggage Carousel 3 in Terminal 1 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Monday was caused by a power bank that may have fallen from a passenger's luggage into the carousel system.

Airport emergency response teams quickly responded to guide passengers away from the area and secure it while implementing ventilation measures.

Less than an hour after the initial report, authorities identified the source as a minor spark from a power bank with no open flame.

After testing, the carousel was found fully operational and airport personnel proceeded with cleanup.

Operations resumed without disruption, highlighting the swift action of emergency teams and partner agencies to ensure passenger safety.

The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) thanked all responding teams for their quick response in securing the area and ensuring the well-being of passengers remains a top priority.
