Pope Francis' coffin sealed, funeral set for Saturday

Pope Francis' coffin was sealed in a private ceremony at the Vatican on Friday night (early Saturday morning in the Philippines) following three days of public viewing that attracted more than 250,000 people from around the world.

On Saturday morning (Vatican time), Pope Francis' body will be transferred to St. Peter's Square for his funeral Mass scheduled at 10 a.m. local time (4 p.m. Philippine time). The ceremony is expected to draw over 200,000 people and more than 50 heads of state.

French President Emmanuel Macron was among the last to pay respects before Francis' open coffin closed on Friday night. US President Donald Trump will be one of many dignitaries in attendance for the funeral.

Following the Mass, Pope Francis' remains are expected to be interred at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore as per his wishes; a procession through Rome is planned with stops near famous landmarks like the Colosseum.
