PNP records 39 suspected election-related incidents, 11 validated

As of March 28, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded 39 suspected election-related incidents, with 11 confirmed as validated incidents.

Of these validated cases, five are currently under preliminary investigation and six are in case build-up stages; meanwhile, 23 incidents were found not related to the May 12 elections.

Five additional cases remain classified as suspected election-related incidents due to ongoing investigations.

The campaign period for national candidates began on February 11 and ends May 10, while the local campaign period started March 28 and also concludes on May 10, 2025.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has ordered intensified monitoring of election areas of concern to prevent an increase in incidents as local elections heat up.

Fajardo emphasized continued vigilance to ensure these incidents do not escalate into something more serious.
