PNP enforces no-fly zone, considers signal jamming for Black Nazarene procession

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will enforce a no-fly zone and may impose signal jamming during the Feast of the Black Nazarene procession on January 9.

Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., PNP chief, stated that signal jamming in Quiapo Church areas is still under discussion and will depend on the decision of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) leadership.

The PNP plans to deploy around 15,200 police officers across Metro Manila to ensure public safety during the event.

Attendees must adhere to restrictions at controlled areas in front of Quiapo Church, where backpacks, water bottles except transparent ones, umbrellas, and ball caps are prohibited.

Physical distancing will be enforced during Masses to minimize communicable disease risks, while the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will also deploy personnel for support.
