PNP-CIDG arrests two armed suspects, seizes explosives in Arayat

The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) conducted an operation in Arayat, Pampanga on Tuesday, seizing high-powered firearms and arresting two suspects.

One suspect, identified as 'Antonio,' is charged with usurpation of authority for posing as a police officer and military serviceman, along with illegal possession of firearms and drug violations.

The second suspect, his cousin named 'Ariel,' faces charges under the Omnibus Election Code's gun ban related to illegal possession of explosives.

Among the seized items were a fragmentation grenade, two .45 caliber pistols, one MK-9 9MM sub-machine gun, several magazines, and assorted ammunition.

Both suspects are part of a criminal group involved in extortion and gun-for-hire activities, according to PNP-CIDG.

The operation is part of the CIDG's intensified crackdown against loose firearms and criminal groups ahead of the midterm elections.
