PNP orders thorough investigation into killing of Mayor Joel Ruma

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil ordered a thorough investigation into the killing of Mayor Joel Ruma of Rizal town during a campaign event on April 23.

Marbil visited the wake of Ruma and urged the Cagayan police to diligently resolve the case and ensure peace for the May 12 elections, stressing the importance of police visibility in high-tension areas during election season.

The PNP Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) is actively developing significant leads that may lead to a breakthrough in the investigation into Ruma's death, with Marbil emphasizing the PNP's commitment to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directives for a safer and more unified nation as part of the Bagong Pilipinas initiative.

The SITG is working around the clock to uncover the truth, apprehend those responsible, and deliver justice to Mayor Ruma’s family and the people of Rizal, Cagayan.
