PNP chief meets CHR to improve collaboration on human rights

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III acknowledged Monday the Commission on Human Rights' (CHR) role in ensuring police operations adhere to legal standards.

Torre visited CHR for a historic meeting, marking improved collaboration between agencies that had previously been at odds.

During his visit, Torre emphasized the importance of human rights and clarified his directive to police officers will be implemented with strict regard for these protections.

CHR welcomed Torre's commitment to transparency and accountability, noting a memorandum of understanding (MOU) is being fine-tuned between PNP and CHR to enhance coordination.

Both sides aim to foster a more collaborative approach to law enforcement that integrates human rights into police duties.
