PNP arrests 274 for election gun ban violations

As of January 21, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that a total of 274 individuals have been arrested for violating the nationwide election gun ban.

Most arrests occurred in Metro Manila with 75 cases, followed by Central Luzon with 67 and Central Visayas with 32.

Among those arrested are two Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel, two government agency personnel, an appointed government official, 10 security guards, and two foreign nationals.

A total of 279 firearms were seized including revolvers, pistols, explosives, shotguns, and other types of weapons.

Security agencies continue to coordinate with the PNP to remind personnel about existing gun ban restrictions as part of efforts to reduce election-related violence.
