PNP-AKG rescues Chinese national, arrests 12 in kidnapping case

The Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) rescued a Chinese national on Sunday who was kidnapped under the guise of a car sale transaction in Parañaque City on July 1.

Twelve suspects were arrested, including six Filipinos and six Chinese nationals, during coordinated operations conducted in Pasay, Makati, Imus, and Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

Initial assessments suggest that this highly organized group may be linked to other past incidents, with the AKG emphasizing its commitment to upholding the law against such criminal activities.

During these operations, authorities recovered multiple vehicles, PHP1 million cash, two firearms, illegal drugs, and uniforms for policemen and security guards.

The victim was reportedly kidnapped in front of a condominium in Parañaque City on July 1, with his cousin reporting the abduction to police on July 3.

According to the AKG, the kidnappers demanded ransom from the victim's family in China through online transfers to a cryptocurrency account provided by the suspects.
