PNP Acting Chief removes Fajardo from spokesperson role

Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. announced on Wednesday that he will remove Brigadier General Jean Fajardo from her spokesperson duties.

Nartatez stated during a media interview at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame that the Public Information Office, headed by Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, should handle spokesperson responsibilities.

Fajardo was previously reassigned to the Directorate for Comptrollership while concurrently serving as spokesperson under former Chief Nicolas Torre III, who has since been relieved of his duties.

Nartatez emphasized that the PNP Office and the Public Information Office should not have overlapping roles, suggesting a need for organizational clarity.

There is no official order yet, but media are advised to coordinate with Tuaño for any official statements moving forward.

High-ranking officials affected by Torre's controversial reassignments are expected to return to their original posts as Nartatez seeks to comply with the National Police Commission’s resolution ordering a recall of those changes.
