PLG Prime considers reopening factory in Bataan

American-Taiwanese luggage manufacturer PLG Prime Global Co. is considering setting up a manufacturing facility in Hermosa, Bataan, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) said.

During a meeting on April 16, PEZA Director General Tereso Panga met with PLG Prime representatives to discuss potential plans for establishing a new factory site under the CREATE MORE Act tax incentives.

PLG Prime was accompanied by Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) board member Wilson Tecson during the discussion about reviving operations in the Philippines due to reciprocal tariffs affecting exports to the US.

The company previously operated in the country from 2018 to 2022 before transferring its manufacturing to China, but now plans to invest more heavily and file an application within 15 days.

PEZA emphasized that the Philippines is becoming a competitive investment destination due to its emerging China+2 strategy and lower reciprocal tariffs compared to other Southeast Asian countries.
