PLDT implements biodiversity conservation policies

PLDT Inc., led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, and its wireless unit Smart Communications have implemented policies to conserve biodiversity as they expand their network infrastructure.

Pangilinan emphasized the company's commitment to environmental protection alongside technological expansion in a statement on Thursday.

These policies were developed with guidance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and aim to protect natural resources while expanding business operations.

PLDT and Smart Communications pledge not to cut down trees and will offset any losses through tree planting or reforestation projects.

The company's biodiversity policies are designed to minimize environmental impacts and integrate protection measures across their operations and supply chain.

Melissa Vergel de Dios, PLDT and Smart's Chief Sustainability Officer, highlighted the importance of embedding sustainability in their business practices for future-proofing both the company and the planet.
