Pinoyliga Global Invitational Cup kicks off Saturday

A select team of Fil-Am Nation and Nagoya Gakuin University will compete alongside three local teams in the inaugural Pinoyliga Global Invitational Cup starting this Saturday, March 22, at Enderun Colleges Gym in Taguig City.

The event, organized by Prime Edge Marketing Consultancy, aims to provide opportunities for aspiring basketball players from various countries and features both men's and women's divisions.

In the men's division, University of Santo Tomas, University of the East, Emilio Aguinaldo College, and Nagoya Gakuin University will compete. In the women's division, teams include UST Lady Tigers, National University Lady Bulldogs, UP Lady Maroons, Nagoya Gakuin, and WMPBL All-Stars.

The tournament format involves a single round-robin for all five teams in each category, with the top two advancing to a championship game. Games this weekend kick off on Saturday at 4 p.m. with WMPBL All-Stars vs Ateneo (women's division), followed by matches between Fil-Am Nation and EAC (men's division) at 8 a.m. and UP vs WMPBL All-Stars (women's division) at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Pinoyliga co-founder Benny Benitez expressed excitement about the event, noting that it provides opportunities for players from various countries to be discovered and potentially play in colleges or universities here.
