Philippine pineapple production to surge in 2025

The Department of Agriculture expects Philippine pineapple production to increase to more than 3.12 million metric tons in 2025 from 2.9 million metric tons in 2024, driven by higher demand and technological advancements.

Export revenues reached USD787.12 million in 2024, marking a 7.5 percent increase over the previous year, with China accounting for approximately USD183.43 million of those exports.

Agriculture spokesperson Arnel de Mesa highlighted growing demand from China and Europe as well as the importance of continuous research and development, particularly in organic farming to cater to niche markets.

The volume of pineapple exports has increased due to higher production levels, with around 44 metric tons projected per hectare this year.

Currently, there are nearly 24,000 pineapple farmers across the country, primarily located in Mindanao.
