PHP80M hyperbaric chamber center to open in Dauin, funded by TIEZA

A PHP80-million hyperbaric chamber center will soon operate in Dauin, Negros Oriental, funded by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) to ensure safety for scuba divers.

Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco announced the groundbreaking during an event where Mayor Galicano Truita donated a 300-square-meter lot for the project.

The chamber is expected to be fully operational in three months and can treat decompression sickness, wounds, and other diseases, accommodating up to six people at once.

TIEZA will manage the facility initially but plans to transfer operations to the local government after five years if it demonstrates capability.

Jetro Nicholas Lozada from TIEZA noted that trainings for medical practitioners and staff are ongoing.

Negros Oriental Divers' Association President Glenn Carballo expressed optimism that the chamber will boost diving tourism in the province and neighboring areas.
