DoT allocates PHP6B for domestic tourism amid coronavirus

The Department of Tourism (DoT) is allocating PHP6 billion to support the domestic tourism industry amid the coronavirus outbreak.

International tourist arrivals have dropped by 42% in February, prompting the DoT to implement initiatives such as infrastructure development and airport upgrades to promote domestic travel.

P2.2 billion will be used for infrastructure projects in top destinations like Coron and Puerto Galera, while P1.6 billion will go towards improving secondary airports to handle night flights.
